Tessa - OCP'16 Round 4

For Round 4 (the fun island, location 3 - abandoned military base)!

I'm not sure if Tessa's lack of fear has to do more with nature or nurture but there you have it, she had to get into the abandoned military base on the island. (And then chill at the village beach but y'know, I really wanted to draw an abandoned military base and Kevin's parental figure doesn't approve of that sort of recklessness.)

And while it might sound stupidly reckless, she did have her reasons - both when it comes to how and why she did that. The "how" came down to Tessa knowing heavy bullet-proof clothing would only slow her down and have no practical point as she can't run - so she went for light stealthy camouflage clothes. She'd be hard to notice and visibly of no threat or interest to anyone. She also knew a way of avoiding the rumoured landmines - walking down the big road for military trucks. As for "why" of the whole crazy idea - Tessa knew that places most people stay away from are good places to hide, not only for dangerous criminals but also (and sometimes more likely) squatters and vulnerable people. So she wanted to check the place out and see if she could perhaps help anyone. That is her kind of crazy, go out and look for someone who can't stand up for themselves.

I decided to try something new with this picture and liked it much better when it was values only but oh well, live and learn. I'm actually really fond of abandoned places that aren't old prisons or hospitals (those just hold too many bad emotions to actually enjoy them I think) and there used to be an abandoned military base in my neighbourhood when I was a kid, it was great exploring it. I also came up with an idea for Cop Story* while drawing this - which may or may not involve an abandoned military base... Much inspiration!!

*_{y'know, Cop Story the comic I need to update... I'm actually on a roll art-wise so if I keep going like this I might finish a page before my birthday.}
