Now With Extra Moustache

I've been in a bit of an art rut on and off and in denial about being in it... but I'm working on it! The comic is being inked, I don't need to do any rewrites that would put everything on hold and I'm trying to doodle regularly (I do remember about this, and there's still time to add more requests). I just need to remind myself that drawing is actually fun, since I get too worked up about GETTING THINGS RIGHT lately. I have some ideas on what to do about that, meanwhile, have some doodles.

1. DS Colston doubts DI Short's ability to liaison with the press, Short doubts "mantits" is a word. I'm told the term they are looking for is "moobs". WOULDN'T THAT LOOK NICE IN A HEADLINE

2. Teague and his mum and St Patrick's day. Teague can't really pinch anyone so... HE JUST WANTS TO BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE but slightly more dangerous

3. Space filler with Cord.

4. The woman with the rude mug (gosh, I wrote the reason I avoided mentioning her name out of the script so meet DCS Marina Morinelli, everyone) and ...someone??? something??? probably nothing, just a long day...

5. The pictures are out of the order they were drawn in and I was late with this doodle anyway but turns out March the 1st is International Wheelchair Day. Not that it makes Llane any happier than usual.

6. "Hello luv, my name is PS Parks, this is DC Chauncey, we want to ask you a couple of questions about your house being broken into and your valuables stolen and yes DC Chauncey will stop grinning right now." EARLY DAYS, HE WAS EXCITED ABOUT BEING IN THE CID.

7. That bloke who has been mentioned a lot recently, Chauncey Senior. I decided he's been a BBC reporter as well, around the time Chance was a teenager (and so really embarrassed about his old man popping up on telly). "NOT POSH" is explained here, "NOT A WIZARD" will hopefully be a prequel someday, "NOT A FLASHER" is a reference to Chance describing his father as "one of those reporters in big coats looking like flashers". I gotta be unbiased and say that Chance is not always fair to his father buuut 1) he does have reasons for it 2) if you're not going to take the mickey out of your parental figures behind their backs WHO WILL??

8. I was listening to Rock'n'Roll Suicide on repeat and had to draw Short singing and the milk float and just... man, this song. If Cop Story were a show (preferably not cancelled after series 1 ...ahem) and I could have it my way it'd have some cuts from Short ruining 70s-80s classics in a pub in Greater Manchester to stuff going on in Greater London. Not sure how much music I'll be able to get away with in the comic without it being redundant, I'll certainly be annoying enough to post imaginary soundtrack links in descriptions.

9. I don't know if I should blame Pikku-Piru and sn0otchie or apologize to them but they got me into Ripper Street and then this happened... The show is pretty great (definitely in my top 10 tv shows, in my top 5 crime dramas) and EVENTUALLY I'll draw some proper fan art of it but I just had to draw a Victorian version of my idiots BECAUSE I HAVE NO SHAME. THE TIMES WHEN MEN WERE MEN, EXCEPT WHEN THEY LOOKED A BIT LIKE SHRUBBERY... Peel Close is the name of the street behind Edmonton Nick, which is handy since it's also a nod to those times and the Ripper hasn't been anywhere near Edmonton. Chance just never lucks out with time travel but Nutter would be more or less at home in the times of EARLY POLICING, except for the lack of Manchester United and tellies in pubs...

And that's all for now! At this point I'm hoping to finish the intro of the comic soonish but with the new plan of trying to remember that ART IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN I honestly don't know what I'll upload next.
